Solution Provides Health Insurer with Improved Data Security

A scalable repeatable process to protect PII

Challenge

Protect member data

After major data breaches at other firms, this large health insurance provider wanted to minimize use and exposure of personal identification data.

Solution

Unique identifier & security designs implemented

Clarity designed a solution to address
existing vulnerabilities and reduce the risk of breaches. Sensitive data was segmented, de-duplicated, and replaced with a unique identifier. Encryption was applied, and security and access designs decrypted the data.

Outcome

A reusable solution that protects

Clarity implemented a production-ready POC that used a unique identifier for everyday business use. This approach is repeatable and can be introduced into other data stores. Clarity delivered additional recommendations for implementation across all data marts, retiring legacy systems and performing a risk/value assessment to determine additional identifiers for encryption.
