Leveraging Sensor Data Through Visualization

To help a client become a 'one-stop shop' for their customers, Clarity developed a data strategy, Hadoop architecture and data visualizations to help drill into the insights

Challenge

Support & integration for sensor data

This client wanted to be a ‘one-stop-data-shop’ for its customers but faced challenges in scaling their infrastructure to support the growth of their sensor data. The client also wanted to integrate sensor with other internal data to predict maintenance issues, prevent injuries and improve drilling performance.

Solution

Provide insights & roadmap for a more scalable infrastructure

Clarity was able to execute key tactics to support this client:

  • Interviewed stakeholders and created use cases tied to key business metrics to improve insights.
  • Defined future capabilities based on an Apache™ Hadoop® architecture that will allow the client to scale their sensor data infrastructure.
  • Created a roadmap to help client navigate the tools, skills, and projects that are required to meet their objectives.

Outcome

Issues resolved with better analytics for the future

This solution solves current and future issues with streaming large amounts of data. The client will be able to:

  • Query historical one-second data with ease
  • Support multiple information streams, whereby becoming the single source for drilling reporting
  • Investigate predictive analytics to make drilling processes safer and faster
