SAP HANA® Based Architecture Gives Real-Time Insights & Drives Cost Savings

Clarity developed and implemented an architecture that turned days into minutes and minutes into seconds.

Lack of BI Platform causing management issues

Our client, one of the world’s largest battery manufacturers, was lacking a BI platform. The company had a legacy SAP® instance, but no BI tools. This made everything challenging to manage, from inventory optimization to trade spending for almost 9000 SKUs.

SAP HANA® platform to the rescue

Clarity developed and implemented an analytics architecture powered by the SAP HANA® platform. The SAP HANA® platform has enabled the client to:

  • Achieve near real-time reporting of transactional data with latency measured in seconds, not days.
  • Access an in-memory database optimized for speed – seconds v. minutes.
  • Store data only once at the lowest level of granularity and combine it virtually through a semantic layer.
  • Introduce self-service capabilities that allow users to create and share reports quickly with little or no IT involvement.

Real-Time analytics, HUGE cost savings, data confidence

Our client can now view and link orders, shipment, inventory and invoicing data in real time, so they can continually take the pulse of their operations.

There are multi-million dollar savings that will result from the new system in the first year, with substantially more savings to follow when the system is extended to encompass areas such as finance and supply chain.

In addition, the new system makes it easy to  identify where faulty data is creating unreliable reports. This has allowed for a  complete reversal of a trend where business users were not confident in the data.
